The Real Reason You're Not Making Progress
If you feel stuck in your life right now - whether financially, emotionally, or in your career - you’re not alone. Many people reach a point where no matter how hard they push, they simply can’t move forward.
I’ve been there myself. A few years ago, I went from being a successful millionaire to losing everything and becoming homeless. It was a devastating crash, and I found myself asking the same two questions over and over:
What do I do now to get out of this mess?
These are the same questions most people ask when they’re facing a major crisis or problem. At the time, I had no idea that the way I was approaching those questions was exactly what was keeping me stuck.
Why Traditional “Success Strategies” Didn’t Work
Having been a “student of success” for most of my adult life, I had plenty of tools and strategies to draw on. I’d read countless books, attended seminars, practiced goal setting, positive thinking, meditation, the Law of Attraction, mind reprogramming, and more.
On top of that, I had solid business, marketing, and financial skills. If knowledge and strategy were enough to fix my situation, I should have been back on my feet quickly.
But here’s the truth: nothing I did worked.
No matter how much I analysed, learned, or tried to figure things out - no matter how much massive action I took - I wasn’t getting anywhere.
I still had no money. I was stuck living with my mother, sleeping on her sofa. And I was getting desperate.
The Turning Point: Doing the Next Thing
Finally, when I had exhausted every possibility, I did something I would never have done if I hadn’t hit rock bottom.
I stopped trying to figure it all out. And I simply started doing the next thing that came into my head.
If I thought of calling someone, I called them. If someone suggested something, I did it.
I stopped worrying about what I “should” do, what I was good at, my goals, or what the outcome might be. I had nothing left to lose.
And that’s when everything began to shift.
Seemingly random events started to line up: chance meetings, unexpected support, new opportunities. It felt almost like magic - but it wasn’t magic at all.
The Lesson: Action, Not Overthinking, Creates Momentum
I didn’t realise it at the time, but I was learning the most valuable lesson of my life:
Life moves forward when you take small, immediate actions, one after another, without overthinking the outcome.
The human brain evolved to navigate the present moment. It’s designed to respond instinctively to what’s right in front of us.
It’s not built to handle imagined future scenarios or the endless loops of thought that dominate modern life.
Humans are biologically designed to run on instinct, not constant analysis.
Why Overthinking Keeps You Stuck
Look honestly at your own situation. Isn’t it true that the thoughts in your head often keep you running in circles rather than moving forward?
All the evidence shows that thinking isn’t our natural mode. It doesn’t solve problems. It creates them.
This idea runs counter to what most “success experts” teach. But after years of research and testing, I can say with certainty that it’s true.
How to Get Unstuck: A Practical Start
If you want to prove this to yourself, don’t start with a grand plan. Start with one simple shift:
Act more. Think less.
Take action without overthinking. Follow your instincts in small, practical ways. Replace planning and analysis with doing.
Take lots of tiny steps, one at a time. Don’t try to guess where they’ll lead. This is how you build momentum and allow your brain to guide you in the right direction - naturally.
As the words in my song “Drop the Story” say:
Drop the story, let it fade away.
Trust your heart, it knows the way.
I could never have imagined where this approach would lead me. The life I now live is far better than anything I could have planned or “figured out” on my own.
And the same is possible for you.
Final Thoughts
Getting unstuck doesn’t require more thinking, more information, or bigger goals. It requires trusting your natural design - and taking small, instinctive actions right now.
Try it.
Then observe what happens. You may be surprised at how quickly life starts to move again.
